Our first Olympic event was the letter relay. We ran across the gym to collect letters and then had to put them in alphabetical order.
This is Ollie the Octopus. Ollie loves olives and oranges. Her favorite color is orange. Her best friend is Owen. Ollie's "O" is a vowel. It makes 2 sounds, /o/ like in octopus and /oooooo/ as in Owen. Ollie is very excited about the Olympics!

We are learning about different celebrations and today we talked about the Jewish celebration called Hannukah. We like that they light candles and they celebrate for eight nights!
Who Can Build the Tallest Tower?
- Today we worked on building structures that were tall. We learned that some materials are better than others for building tall things. We also learned that sometimes we need a strong base to help our towers stand up.
Our Kindergartens did a fantastic job at their first Christmas Concert. They were each beautiful snowflakes and they are all, "One in a Million!"he
Who Can Make the Longest Paper Chain?
Our challenge was to create the longest paper chain. Every student was given only 1 piece of paper and they had to figure out how to cut it to make the longest chain. When we measured them we discovered that if you cut the strips very skinny you could make lots of strips and create a really long chain!
The "Longest" Challenge
Our challenge was to use building materials to make something that was longer than anyone else's. We had to work as a team. At the end we couldn't compare our structures because they were in different places and didn't have the same starting place. We used string to measure how long they were and then we compared the string!

Today we met our newest puppet Iggy. Iggy's best friend is Isabelle the inchworm. Iggy likes to go for a walk with Isabelle. Isabelle says, "\i\, \i\, \i\". Iggy lives in an igloo. He likes insects and the color indigo.
Our Class Tree
Our tree is beginning to change. In the summer the leaves were green and the tree was making food so that it could grow. Now the tree is getting ready for winter and the leaves are beginning to change color. We think the leaves will soon begin to fall off. We will watch our tree all year to see how it changes.
